Indian Government Launching Its Own Operating System ‘BOSS’ replacing the Windows OS: Most of the computer users nowadays use the Microsoft Windows Operating System for GUI (Graphic User Interface), some with command knowledge use LINUX, UNIX and other operating systems. In government offices also the Operating system used was ‘Windows’ but now for Indian government for their official use going to launch the new Indian operating system called ‘BOSS’ (Bharat Operating System Solutions) replacing Windows OS. The ‘BOSS OS’ has already been launched and available.
Indian Operating System – ‘BOSS’:
The new Indian operating system named BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) has been launched by the Indian government for their official use. This OS has been developed by the C-DAC (Center for Development of Advanced Computing). This ‘BOSS’ operating system will be very much improved and secured and Indian government all set to released, their official website states that ‘BOSS had seen 4 desktop releases and 2 school version OS which is designed especially for primary school students ‘.
This is now also available to download, stated on their official portal as follows ‘The BOSS GNU/Linux Version 6 is coupled with GNOME Desktop Environment 3.14 with wide Indian language support & packages, relevant for use in the Government domain. This aims more at enhancing the user interface with more glossy themes and Tab like the look and feel on the desktop by coupling latest applications’. This operating system was launched to overcome vulnerabilities and attacks by the hackers. This OS was developed with the help of Gujrat Technical University and other private computer companies.
Hope that this OS will be the best OS to use in the government offices to keep the data safe and secure from the attack of hackers etc. Hope that the government will release it very soon probably in this month only. It is a very good step or initiative that the India has its own operating system which supports many Indian languages, usually in the offices where Windows OS’s were used, there may be issue was being faced with the various languages availibility, but with the launch of the BOSS Operating sytem, that has been made easy, there is a ‘Bug Report’ option also available on their official website from where the people, if they find bugs good can submit it and in the later upcoming version, that is is expected to be fixed.
So currently, the official portal of the BOSS also says that there have been around 2.5 million devices using BOSS OS and they says “BOSS has been deployed and successfully running on more than 2.5 million devices (as on 8th Feruary 2018) to the best of our knowledge”, if this is the speed of the installation then it would be seen, you can comment your views or thoughts about the BOSS, have you ever seen or used this OS, and would you live to try this OS and give your suggestions, do write your suggestions and feedback in the comments as good comments are always welcome by our side.
